The December update!

Well, we are back home and now getting ready for Christmas.

The honeymoon was a lot of fun. We spent two days in vancouver before heading down to Mexico. We spent a week in an all-inclusive resort that we left twice...once to go shopping in Playa del Carmen and thesecond time to go swimming with the dolphins at Xel-Ha. We then made it back to Vancouver for Kimberly to go to a conference for work and me to go shopping at Ikea.

The trip back was the only downside to the entire adventure. The plan was scheduled to leave Cancun early in the evening and arrive at Vancouver at around midnight. Instead the plane got delayed, and then redelayed! So we landed at Vancouver at 8am for Kimberly to start her conference at 7.45...so she was just a touch exhausted.

Then last Thursday (December 6) we finally got to see some wedding photos. With all of our friends having cameras (or so it seemed!) there were no pictures sent to us! So when our photographer dropped by with his album and the disc with all the pictures we finally got to see ourselves!

Kimberly has posted a chunk of the pictures on facebook, both of the wedding and the honeymoon...so if you are on Facebook let one of us know so that the connection can be made and the photos can be viewed.

But for those of you not on 'Crackbook' as one of our friends described it:

This is the view from the balcony on our room. The resort is not huge (250 rooms) and was quite spread out so there was a view of many trees instead of a wall of walls...

This is Kimberly with a monkey on her head. Not sure it needs much more an explanation...but in Playa del Carmen one of the street vendor types had some animals that he would offer to tourists so that they could have their photo taken with them.

So that is why Kimberly has a monkey on her head.

This is Xel-Ha, which apparently is a Mayan term for where the river meets the sea. So basically it is a mangrove estuary that has some wonderful swimming areas, beautiful cenotes and lets you swim with the dolphins.

Speaking of which:

They are quite affectionate when bribed!

And they can give you quite a push!

This started with me lieing flat in the water and a dolphin pushing on each foot...it ended with me standing up as you can see and splashing down and swallowing lots of water because I was laughing.

Nice clear skies in November in Canada? Who knew?

We got dressed up in the afternoon and spent an hour or so downtown in the area where the wedding venue is. It was fun :-)

And here is the wedding venue!

You can probably guess which ones we are :-)

So that is the quick update with a few photos. We are slowly getting back into life as per normal and I am hoping I will be able to post another entry before Christmas...
