Anyone need new shoes?

I went shopping with my great-aunt Freda yesterday, and we went out to Mattick's Farm, where we wandered into a clothing store and were browsing around.

I noticed a pair of cute flipflops, just like the ones in this picture. I thought they would be nice for the honeymoon, to wander in and out of our room and to the beach in. I looked them over, no price tag.

At this point, and in this store, I figured it was going to be something a bit ridiculous, but I asked the woman for the price anyway.

$100! for foam flipflops!

I'm sorry to say, even for my honeymoon, I am NOT paying that. I'm sorrier to say, I sort of laughed in the woman's face. Genuine Swarovski crystals or not, how ridiculous!

The date is set! The venue is booked!

I'll write more later! For now I'll just say that Chris and I went to take a second look at the Maritime Museum courtroom and we LOVED it. We have booked it for Saturday, November 10th, 2007.

I feel like jumping up and down and squealing like a little girl!

March 13 2006 update: adding a couple of pictures Ann at the Maritime Museum was kind enough to send me.

Venue Hunting II

I'm very excited. On Thursday Chris and I are going to have a look at the Courtroom at the Maritime Museum. It will be my second look, and Chris' first. I'm more and more certain that this is where we will be getting married. In my mind's eye I can see it, with loads of fairy lights wrapped around all the banisters, and huge arrangements of lunaria filling up the corners and darker areas, making them glow. We'll have to invest a fair bit of cash into those little LED lights that look like tea lights, but I'm sure we can find uses for them afterwards. I love the way the room glows, and I'm completely taken with the idea of getting married in a courtroom, since we're planning a civil ceremony. It just seems very appropriate but still unusual and cool. Plus, Chris is happy because it means I won't be wearing a red dress! ;o)
