Our House

More news!

Life is good.

On Tuesday (May 13) we went and looked and a duplex in Vic West, just over the bridge from downtown. It’s two blocks from our favourite pub (Spinnakers) and a block from a decent grocery store, a liquor store, a walk-in clinic, a branch of our bank and a decent Chinese restaurant.

I think Chris and I both knew before we even went upstairs that we’d be making an offer, and we did!

Unless something goes wrong (and we did the house inspection yesterday and it went fine, so probably nothing will) we will take possession of 232 Henry Street on May 19th.

We knew it was meant to be when the sellers proposed that as our possession date.

On May 19th 2002, at about 5pm, Chris arrived in Victoria and we laid eyes on each other for the very first time. We went for supper at Spinnakers. On May 19th 2007 at 5pm we take possession of our first house.

It has a great open floor plan, it’s immaculate, it has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two skylights, and a great walk-in closet in the master bedroom. It’s on a quiet, cherry-tree lined street, and it’s a pleasant walk downtown. Probably not one I’d want to do every day to work, but certainly lovely to wander down for lunch and shopping on a Saturday, or to stroll home from work on a lazy Friday afternoon when the weather’s nice.

And it’s even better for living without a car than where we live now!

We will miss our nextdoor neighbours, and Bubby Rose’s Bakery, and being so close to Beacon Hill Park, but we’re gaining access to the Galloping Goose regional trail system, we’re just as close to the water and a park where we can sit and watch the floatplanes take off and land, and it’s going to be OURS.

Life is good.
